You do not need to take any classes to register as an Apprentice.
If you have a drain cleaner or residential utility installer registration, you are required to take continuing education.
The training requirements for Tradesman and Journeyman exams are outlined as follows:
Tradesman Exam: 24 hours of training, which includes:
OSHA 10-hour class
8-hour Residential (IRC) Code class
6-hour continuing education class
Journeyman Exam: 48 hours of training, which includes the Tradesman classes plus:
18-hour Plumbing (IPC / UPC) Code class
Second 6-hour continuing education class
You do not have to take all your classes from the same provider. You may take the classes as needed and in any order, as long as you receive a certificate for each completed class.
Friday, Saturday, and weekend classes start at 8:00 AM. Sign-in begins at 7:30 AM. If you are not signed in by 7:55 AM, your spot may be given away to a walk-in.
Evening classes begin at their posted time, with sign-in starting 15 minutes prior.
